Could zeref from fairytail be considered..???? josy

No, he is worshiped like a Deity by dark cults, but he isn't one. He's just a really powerful wizard. -The Forgotten Beast 17:37, May 11, 2012 (UTC)
No zeref is a demon king not just a poweful wizard he creates demons!
To be a deity or even a demi-deity, several basic traits and elements are needed: omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, omnificence, omnicompetence and immortality. To have at least three of these abilities means one is a deity, but if not, Zeref can be classified as just a really powerful dark wizard. -The Forgotten Beast (talk) 20:29, May 24, 2014 (UTC)
Kami-Sama is missing. Dragon Ball Z have a lot of gods. The most powerful god is the Grand Supreme Kai, who has absorved by Majin Buu (who turned fat after this). 00:45, May 19, 2012 (UTC
You have a point there, but all of them are just powerful creators, not beings as a whole, any of these mighty deities could easily overpower them, but dont get me wrong, they where the first deities that came to mind when making this list. So I've decided to make a poll to choose who should be on this list, so go ahead and vote. -The Forgotten Beast 06:32, May 22, 2012 (UTC)

How about Belldandy from Oh! My Goddess? She is, along with her sisters, a goddess. A first - class goddess; unlimited licence to be precise. Or maybe Holo/Horo from Spice and Wolf? She's a pagan harvest - wolf - deity. I'm not really sure Haruhi should be included. Yes, she is, for all intents and purposes, omnipotent; but does that really make her a deity? Does that really make her devine? I mean, we still don't know the origin of her powers. 08:44, May 22, 2012 (UTC)

As valid as they are, they are more along the lines of lesser gods who answer to a higher force or simply represent or enforce a singular aspect of life and/or reality. I only include the highest deities or pantheons of a series, like for example the Almighty from Oh! My Goddess! would qualify more than Belldandy, however he is not transcendent or ineffable, and aside from his weapon, his abilities do not suggest that he is all powerful or has complete control over something and much about him is unknown so I can't possibly add him. -The Forgotten Beast 23:58, May 22, 2012 (UTC)

I have a few suggestions.

  • How about the Digimon Sovereigns? They're 5 godlike Digimon that govern the digital world. Or perhaps Yggdrasill/King Drasil? The master program that runs the entire digital world?
  • And maybe Philemon from the Persona series? He may not be a "god", but he is the anthropomorphic personification of Humanity's collective goodness. He is implied to possess godlike powers, and is the guardian entity of all Persona protagonists.
  • I'm not sure if you would count them, but the Celestialsapiens from Ben 10? They are virtually omnipotent, and are implied to have created reality. If it wasn't for their massive weakness, they could probably defeat the majority on this list.
  • And The Ones from Star Wars? They are the embodiments of the different aspects of the Force.
  • Now do you count Cosmic Entities from Marvel or DC? Because perhaps the Entity/White Entity/Life Entity from DC, the creator of all life in the universe? Or the seven Endless? 00:31, November 26, 2013 (UTC)
Okay then, here's my response to each of those great choices:
  • King Drasil, I was planning to add him but after reading some more, there's a lot confusing me at the moment about whether he is valid or not, the Digimon Wiki mentions another unknown deity who lives in the Kernel and is protected by angel digimon and another being is the Homeostasis, so I'm afraid it cannot qualify if there's not some sort of definitive continuity or explanation.
  • Philemon is indeed a divine spirit of humanity's goodness, but is not a true deity in the sense that he did not make his world or represents his world's consciousness, just humanity's.
  • According to Dwayne McDuffie, the mother Celestialsapien that Ben, the team and Ultimate Aggregor land upon is not a god in Ben 10 and he also states "...not even close".
  • The Ones seem pretty good, I'm gonna go check it out and see if Star Wars has any more major deities or if I should just add the Force itself.
  • One Above All from the Marvel Multiverse first came to mind when I made this list but it seems he is actually based on God from our world, not a completely original deity. At least I think that's who he is meant to be based on what I've been told, but I'm not sure if he's limited to his own reality or not. But if Marvel's One Above All is truly original let me know.
  • As for the DC Multiverse, its world, mythos and such are always so confusing with the countless amounts of retcons, reboots and continuity issues that they have, its hard to understand who or what is in charge there, and whoever they are they're not doing a kind job of it since their entire reality is always suffering from some immense universal destruction and recreation every few years with no one remembering anything rather than only some mild planetary issue. Anyway DC is just a little too messed up for me to know what's really going on there right now, but if after the next reboot and the end of the new 52 they re-mention the Entity then I'll add it. But if you would like to make a counter-argument, please feel free. ^_^
If you have any more suggestions please feel free to suggest more! -The Forgotten Beast (talk) 00:15, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
  • Concerning King Drasil, you do have a point that the relation between it and the god the angel digimon serve is pretty unclear.
  • Honestly, if you're not going to include Philemon for those reasons, I'm not sure that the Avatar Spirit should be included as well. Beginnings reveals its origins and nature is not what we always thought it was. On the other hand, Raava is the closest thing we have to a benevolent, supreme deity in the avaverse.
  • Look, I know Dwayne McDuffie invented them and therefore has final word about their status, but honestly I'm a bit sceptical about that statement. I mean they are invincible, immortal and omnipotent. How much greater do you need to be to be considered a god? Especially since some fictional works (DC, Marvel (which he worked for) and Discworld) have "gods" as beings on the lower end of the ladder. Besides, "So Long, And Thanks For All The Smoothies" and a discription from an upcoming episode (Universe Vs. Tennyson) suggests that they do intervene if it's necessary, as opposed to some other beings (*Cough*Marvel&DC*cough*).
  • About the Force, not a bad idea, but as far as I know, so far it's only implied that the Force has a mind of its own, instead of being merely a "force". If, however, you are certain that's the case, I see no reason why it shouldn't be added.
  • That's pretty much the reason I didn't mention the OAA, it's pretty obvious it (like DC's Presence, they might even be the same being) is supposed to be the Judeo-Christian God from Abrahamic religions. I mean, a lot of people seem to call them "God", while referring to that particular god, so...
  • Honestly, I can't really give a good counter-argument considering your statement about DC. 11:55, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
  • Too true.
  • That's why I added the Avatar Spirit, since it is basically just Raava and a Human's spirit fused together, and Raava no longer exists as a separate entity except for that brief moment where she was extracted by Unalaq.
  • You make an excellent point. I'll add them then until the day McDuffie reveals the true deity or deities of the Ben 10 universe, if he ever gets around to it.
  • Thanks.
  • Hmm... Well... Now that I think about it... I guess I could add a link to the gods category on marvel wiki and simply call it the Marvel Pantheon. Cuz there are lots of other original deities there and unlike the ones in DC they do a pretty good job of taking care of their countless realities unlike in DC where they can barely take care of just 52... but at the same time that would link them to all the Norse and real world deities as well... which would go against my list's policy thus causing people to easily make counter arguments as to why I don't add other depictions of real world deities on the list... so I guess I can't do that either... <:\ -The Forgotten Beast (talk) 03:08, November 28, 2013 (UTC)
Glad I could help. I unfortunatly have no advice on how to solve your Marvel dilemma. Oh, by the way, hate to inform you, but Dwayne McDuffie has been dead for a few years. If I'm correct, the main writer for Omniverse is now Matt Wayne. ...Now that I think about it, that could mean that previous statements could be retconned, like the one we were talking about. I do believe I heard something about Primus and Ultimate Ben being retconned, good riddance (No, seriously, I always thought those 2 concepts were stupid). Appparently, the entire "recreating the universe" thing was a good excuse to do so. 08:39, November 28, 2013 (UTC)
Wow... I feel like a Slowpoke for not knowing that. It's a shame we'll never see his original ideas come to light in the series. Also yeah I agree, good riddance to both those ridiculous concepts (although I still have mixed feelings about the episode where the universe was destroyed and then "copied" rather than restored with a "few things missing"), although I must admit that I started to lose interest in the franchise after the original series ended. Alien Force and Ultimate were just too... meh for my tastes... No offense if you like them though, but seriously thank you for your help. -The Forgotten Beast (talk) 09:19, November 28, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, this is the last thing I'm going to say since this conversation is crowding the page. When I first started watching AF, I didn't really like it. Some changes to characters or concepts from TOS were unnecessary, so I stopped watching it. Eventually I started to watch again and developed a new opinion. Granted, I still think some changes and ideas are unnecessary, stupid and/or ridiculous, but the others can be quite good. And I do like the fact that it really expands upon the shows mythos. I still hold this opinion into Omniverse, though I do think the newest show should take itself a little bit more seriously. 10:32, November 28, 2013 (UTC)
