This is Dede Koswara. Aka Treeman.
Dede is from Indonesia and suffers from an extremely rare disease called this: Epidermodysplasia verruciformis. I dare you to pronounce it.
It would be to difficult to inform you on the technicalities about the disease right now but what it boils down to is that the decease makes Dede look like a tree.
He has root like structures growing from different parts of his body.
Dede used to be a fisherman but is now part of a circus group, basically appearing with other people with deformities in a big freak show, which is really sad if you think about it.
Other known cases are extremely rare with the case of Ion Toader being the only other case that I could find. Ion is from Romania and suffers from the excact same disease as Dede. Surgery is possible but the problem is that the roots come back quickly and they would need almost constant procedures.
If the story has caught your interest then a documentary can be found on discovery channel that was dedicated to Koswara. It's called 'Treeman, Search for the Cure'
Hopefully doctors will be able to find a more permanent solution soon to help remove Dede's roots for good.
